Senior Programmer

iO are currently working with a market leading client based in the heart of Cardiff, who are looking to on-board a Senior Programmer on a permanent basis.
The company consistently look to innovate in their field and are always on the lookout for talented developers to drive the company forward.

You will be responsible for building website, mobile apps and additional services. The projects use modern cutting edge technologies including ReactJS, JavaScript and AWS. The company is very agile and you can expect to work in an innovative and fast paced environment.

Day to day work
§Deliver high quality, maintainable and efficient code to defined standards.
§Produce quality technical and functional specifications in line with demand.
§Produce plans for, and carry out, thorough unit testing and to contribute successfully to system testing where appropriate.
§Follow good practices such as Test Driven Development and Scrum.
§Take responsibility for technical aspects of delivery by the team including running code reviews, workshops etc.
§Mentor more junior colleagues to improve the capability of the team.

Required experience
§A working knowledge of systems development life cycle's (SDLC).
§Delivery of training workshops and/or running sprint retrospectives.
§Experience working in an Agile methodology such as Scrum.
§Exposure or experience to the following technologies would be highly beneficial:
§SQL + Database Design
§Mobile (iOS and/or Android) app development
§ReactJS and/or React Native
§Use of ticketing systems such as TFS, Trello or Jira for workflow management
§Proven professional experience in building commercial websites.
§An excellent understanding of software development practises.
§Understanding of issues affecting websites around scalability, security and usability.
§Proven troubleshooting and debugging expertise.
§Experience of Cloud computing e.g. AWS, Azure, Heroku etc.
§Use of GitHub as a source control mechanism.
§Experience with writing unit tests and working in a Continuous Integration environment.
