We are looking for a Diagnostic Software Engineer to become part of a small team responsible for the design, development, defect correction, validation and release of software applications for implementing automotive diagnostics and service functions in Bosch's authoring environment GRADE-X, according to OEM specifications of components and electronic control units (ECUs).
As a Diagnostic Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:
The role involves dealing directly with the customer and working closely with other members of the development team which includes employees of Bosch, other suppliers and representatives of the customer. Some travel to the US/UK may be required for this project
* Design and development of vehicle diagnostic strategies and service functions. In accordance with designs agreed with the customer.
* In-depth understanding of General OEM requirements for a diagnostic system e.g. concepts such as module re-programming, ECU Configuration, Service function authoring
* A knowledge of a wide range of power train and body chassis systems fitted to modern motor vehicles. This extends to the components and theory of operation.
* In-depth automotive protocol experience
* Understanding and best practice use of software engineering principles and familiarity with software development standards.
* Familiarity with principles and methodologies of software unit and integration testing techniques.
* Experience with OTX or ODX would be extremely advantageous.
* To work closely in association with customer teams to determine requirements, testing and sign off of diagnostic content.

The ideal Diagnostic Software Engineer will have:
* Experience with Grade-X Editor development (OTX in particular)
* Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio C++ and TFS
* Knowledge of automotive electrical systems and wiring diagrams
* Knowledge of vehicle communication networks (CAN VISO14229)
* Knowledge of the automotive business
* Excellent English, written and spoken
* Business- and customer oriented
* Self-driven and with the ability to work effectively in a team, as well as solo
* Interpersonal and analytical skills
* Able to plan workload

Whilst the skills defined in this are desirable, a positive attitude to learn new skills and a genuine interest in the subject are equally as important.
